A noteworthy event in Edmonton City would be the Edmonton International Fringe Festival. It is an annual event held every August, and is the largest in Canada (in ticket sales) and the second largest in the world. The performances in the said event are mostly theatrical, but at times, they can also be in any form of art. Other current events to consider would be the Edmonton International New Years Gala on December 31 and the Ice on Whyte festival from January 14 to 24.
